The more I see these, the more I think these are 100% scams.

I use Firefox private DNS and still it doesn’t work for some reason.

My torrent program and prowlarr use a VPN. I don’t bother using it for normal browsing.

My country plays wack a mole with their domains. I mostly rely on 2 private trackers now

Because when you’re terminaling, you’re hacking, hence dark. When you’re emailing, you’re officeing, hence light.
With Microsoft destroying it’s reputation for very long device support, I can only imagine they’ve also destroyed all trust in them from the embedded devices and outdoors hardware industry. These machines don’t get a lot of updates and it would suck to have to throw them away because software support ended.

Linux sucks because the problems are sometimes hard to solve and you have to solve them yourself. Windows and Mac suck because the ability to solve hard problems is actively being kept away from you by the gatekeepers.
I much prefer “hard to solve”.

I’m not sure the majority of games is DRM free though. But youve got a point.

That’s the thing. The vast majority of people are happy to support game devs and the steam service. That’s probably why this is not an issue causing vast losses.

https://github.com/haugene/docker-transmission-openvpn
This is what I use. Really simple to setup. It has a kill switch in case the VPN goes down.

Private trackers are much better. I appreciate p2p as every user helps strengthen the tracker. And usually you pay with that support instead of with money.

But the torrent client wouldn’t be using the SD card right? Maybe for logs.

As long as its just the torrenting, it should be totally fine. The only thing that wouldn’t work is if you want to also run Jellyfin on it as it would really struggle with transcoding.

The fact that jellyfin let’s you sort your media exactly the way you want without promoting or hiding content already puts JF miles ahead any commercial streaming services. The ease of mind is unbeatable.

On the home server on the host. I couldn’t figure out how to make it work in a container and still have ssh access to the host, which was my goal…

Same! I setup a cronjob calling namecheap dyndns API.

I personally use haugene/transmission-openvpn docker image to run Transmission with a kill switch on a docker container. Super clean setup and never had any issue.

Browsing or even downloading torrent files, or keeping bookmarks, is not illegal. So, it doesn’t matter.
