3-2-1 never let me down since more than two decades. I just bought an external nextcloud host. And everyone of these 3 backups was destroyed in the past and I was glad to have them in another backup. Fire at the external server host. Fire at home and a HDD failure. But not at the same time.

Just had to add: the PC is poverty of someone else and has encrypted win 11 on it. Use a 3.2-usb-stick with a shim compatible installed linux-distro on it (fedora/ubuntu).

We use wiki.js at work, its an easier way to build a learning platform with it than learning and building something like moodle.

KDE or GNOME its the same installer. In both they ask if you want automatic partitioning or manual.

My bet is there could be some bitlocker partition somewhere still alive. Or your bios assuming a bitlocker encrypted partition. Maybe put some of the bios security features down for testing.

Have the exact same Laptop, running CachyOS with swayfx. Since 13" is small, I like to run full space tiling windows one for each workspace instead of small windows everywhere.

Did a quick view into their installer. They use some AUR parts. Upgrading only with pacman seems not useful. Better use yay -Syu (or paru -Syu) it will upgrade both AUR and pacman. Since others recommended, get a tty and run HyDE installscript again.
