I’ll get downvoted for this, but use Claude for Linux troubleshooting, not ChatGPT. It’s much better at both Linux and PC troubleshooting. Also, are you sure that your refurbishments are compatible with the board and remaining components? Might be worth trying to do a Windows 10 install (don’t actually install, just go through the steps) just to see if you get a GUI from that process.

It was never a widely used protocol, and needs specially designed HDMI cables to work. It was something obscure and just barely past experimental.

Agreeing with @empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com that you’re not going to stumble into internet over HDMI between two devices. This is a zero percent concern, IMO.

That’s what Google wants, because people gave up on Jailbreaking iPhones because the loss of features wasn’t worth it on the other side. Google probably doesn’t love that their flagship is the best model for use with custom ROMs, plus they’re also trying to lock out Xiomi as well for what that’s worth.

While giving up is an option, someone somewhere needs to coordinate this entire OSS ecosystem to focus on singular projects. I would love to see a privacy and FOSS non-profit do exactly this.
